Basketball Scoring

Basketball scoring emphasizes well-rounded performance. In addition to basic stats like points and rebounds, the model accounts for defensive plays, efficiency, and achievement-based bonuses.

Each point scored by the player.
Rebound +1.2
Collected after a missed shot on either end of the court.
Assist +1.5
A pass that directly leads to a made basket.
Steal +3.0
Taking the ball away from the opponent.
Block +3.0
Preventing a shot from reaching the basket.
Turnover -1.0
Losing possession to the other team.
Missed FG -0.5
Missing a field goal attempt.
Missed FT -0.5
Missing a free throw attempt.
Double-Double Bonus +1.5
Awarded for 10+ in two major stat categories.

Goal scored while the team is down a player.

Shot on Goal +0.5
Any shot that would have entered the net if not stopped.
Blocked Shot +1.0
Defensive stop of an opponent’s shot.

Successful save by the goalie.
