Learn About Lineups

Lineups are how you bring your fantasy entries to life. You’ll draft players under a salary cap (when applicable) to build a roster that competes in a contest. Each lineup is unique to you — shaped by your selections, the player pool, and the contest rules.

The information on this page explains how lineups work on iDraft for entertainment purposes only.

Lineup Basics

Your lineup determines which players can earn fantasy points for you during a contest.

  • Player Pool: Choose from all eligible players in the contest’s games (slate).
  • Positions: Each sport has required positions (for example, QB, RB, WR in football or G, F, C in basketball).
  • Salary Cap: In salary cap contests, you must stay under the total salary limit when drafting your lineup.
  • Scoring: Your players earn points based on real-game performance. See Fantasy Scoring Explained for details by sport.

Editing Lineups

You can adjust your lineup before the contest locks — but not after.

  • Before Lock: You may swap or edit players at any time prior to contest start.
  • At Lock: Once the contest begins, your lineup is final and cannot be changed.
  • Multi-Game Contests: If the contest includes several games (a slate), it locks at the start of the first scheduled game.

Multiple Lineups

Some contests allow multiple entries so you can submit more than one lineup.

  • Entry Limits: Check the contest rules for how many lineups you can submit.
  • Independent Scoring: Each lineup is scored separately — players in one lineup do not affect the score of another.
  • Multiple Approaches: When multiple lineups are allowed, some players choose different combinations of teams and players. This is a personal choice.
